Isuzu Forward IV gallery (1994–2007)

The fourth generation medium-duty trucks featuring SOHC engines and the innovative Smoother F transmission.

The fourth-generation Isuzu Forward medium-duty truck was built on an upgraded frame platform featuring an all-steel cab-over design focused on operator comfort. The vehicle was produced in a broad range of payload capacities and wheelbases, serving as van carriers, flatbeds, recovery trucks, and municipal vehicles. The engine lineup featured reliable inline-six 6HE1 diesel powerplants (naturally aspirated and turbocharged) with SOHC architecture, coupled with manual gearboxes or the innovative Smoother-T clutchless automated manual transmission. Compared to the previous generation, this model featured improved cabin soundproofing, idling stop systems, and reduced exhaust emissions. Throughout its long production run, the vehicle received periodic facelifts affecting the front grille, lighting elements, and electronic engine management systems to comply with evolving 2007 emission standards. Its main markets of distribution included Japan, Asia-Pacific countries, and the global secondary used-truck market.
