The first-generation Hyundai Verna (LC chassis) debuted in South Korea in 1999 as the domestic market nameplate for the second-generation Accent series. Offered in sedan and three/five-door hatchback variants, the Verna LC brought enlarged cabin dimensions and improved chassis torsional stiffness over the X3 series.
Powertrains included 1.3-liter, 1.5-liter 16V Alpha engines, and a 1.6-liter Alpha II engine with CVVT variable valve timing delivering 105 hp, alongside a 1.5-liter CRDi turbodiesel. A 2003 update (LC2) revised headlamp lenses and front fascia moldings.
