The third-generation Hyundai Tucson (TL platform) premiered at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, re-establishing the Tucson nameplate across all global markets. Penned under Peter Schreyer's direction, the TL introduced a prominent trapezoidal grille, elongated LED headlights, and aggressive wheel arch flares. The body shell integrated 51% advanced high-strength steel.

Engine technology featured 1.6-liter GDI, 2.0-liter Nu, 2.4-liter Theta II, 1.6-liter T-GDI turbo petrol units, and 1.7-liter/2.0-liter CRDi turbodiesels. Transmissions included six-speed manuals, six-speed automatics, and a seven-speed dual-clutch unit. A 2018 facelift added a refined cascading grille and updated safety features.
