The I generation of the Hyundai Pony was manufactured between 1975 and 1982. The first-generation Hyundai Pony I premiered at the 1974 Turin Motor Show and entered production in 1975 as South Korea's first mass-produced independent car line.

Designed by Italdesign's Giorgetto Giugiaro, it offered 1.2L and 1.4L Saturn engines across hatchback, sedan, estate, and pickup body styles. Throughout its production run, the I established a strong reputation for powertrain efficiency, passenger comfort, and structural reliability.
