About this generation

The second-generation Hyundai Ioniq mid-size electric sedan built on an 800-volt architecture with a driving range of up to 650 km.

The second generation of the Hyundai Ioniq repositions the vehicle into a larger segment, evolving from a compact liftback into a sleek mid-size four-door electric sedan. Developed on an 800-volt high-voltage electrical platform, the car features an aerodynamic body with a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd. Its exterior dimensions measure 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,470 mm in height, with a generous 2,900 mm wheelbase that puts it close to the Sonata in size. Cargo capacity in the rear trunk is rated at 465 liters.

The electric powertrain relies on CATL-supplied lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs. The standard configuration pairs a 53.5 kWh battery with a 188 hp electric motor, delivering a driving range of up to 540 km under the CLTC standard (443 km WLTP). The long-range specification is fitted with a 66.8 kWh pack and a 225 hp motor, extending the range up to 650 km on CLTC (533 km WLTP). Inside, the cabin receives a unified 27-inch dual display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and a Momenta NOA highway autopilot suite.

Compared to the first-generation Ioniq (AE), the model completely phases out internal combustion and hybrid options in favor of a dedicated battery-electric system, adopts a sedan silhouette, and gains 200 mm in wheelbase to provide a substantially larger interior.
