Honda CR-V I (RD1-RD3) photos

The first-generation Honda CR-V debuted in October 1995. Engineered on a modified fifth-generation Civic platform, it introduced a unibody construction, four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, and high ground clearance. Notable interior features included a flat floor design and a removable folding picnic table stored under the rear cargo area.

Initial models were powered by a 2.0-liter B20B engine (126–130 hp), updated in 1999 to the B20Z engine producing 147 to 150 hp. Transmission choices included a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Honda's Real Time AWD automatically engaged the rear axle via a dual-pump hydraulic clutch pack whenever front wheel slip was detected.
