Honda Teases Avancier Hybrid Crossover
Honda has revived the Avancier nameplate, teasing a silhouette that combines elements of a wagon and an SUV. A teaser released on Honda's Asian social media channels reveals a sleek wagon-like SUV profile, narrow front lighting elements, a rakish tailgate, and L-shaped taillights connected to a new hybrid powertrain. The Avancier badge originally belonged to an Accord-based station wagon sold exclusively in Japan from 1999 into the early 2000s, but the revived iteration targets a significantly different audience.
While Honda has not formally specified targeted regional markets, regional reporting suggests the vehicle is aimed at competing against large three-row hybrid crossovers. Official details confirm that the vehicle will utilize the automaker's newly branded Honda Hybrid system, a moniker replacing the familiar e:HEV badge. Teaser imagery points to a three-row cabin layout rather than a conventional station wagon format.
Technical specifications remain undisclosed, with Honda holding back information on power output, battery capacity, pricing, and exact market launch timing. Full specifications for the Honda Hybrid setup are slated for release later this month. The Avancier forms part of Honda's broader initiative to introduce 15 next-generation hybrid vehicles equipped with the Honda Hybrid system globally between 2027 and the end of March 2030.
These upcoming models will be supported by a newly developed global hybrid platform engineered for lower weight and increased structural rigidity compared to current architectures. Honda has also outlined an electric all-wheel-drive unit designed to integrate with the platform, though its inclusion on the Avancier specifically has not been confirmed.
Styling cues preview Honda's future design direction, characterized by a sharp shoulder crease and slender illumination units. Reports indicate an Australian market introduction scheduled for 2027, with Thailand considered as a potential manufacturing hub for major international markets, while North American availability remains unconfirmed.
