The ninth-generation Honda Accord (CR) debuted in 2012, merging international platform splits back into a unified chassis architecture. It adopted a front MacPherson strut layout to optimize ride comfort and decrease overall mass, complemented by high-strength steel body reinforcement for elevated chassis rigidity. Available body forms were a four-door sedan and two-door coupe.

Powertrain choices featured Earth Dreams Technology engines: a direct-injected 2.4-liter four-cylinder (185–192 hp), a 3.5-liter V6 (278 hp), and the two-motor hybrid/plug-in hybrid i-MMD system (196 hp total). A major 2015 refresh added full-LED headlamps, updated bumpers, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, and the Honda Sensing driver-assist suite.
