GMC TopKick III (GMT560) gallery (2002–2009)
Third generation medium-duty commercial trucks built on the GMT560 platform.
The third-generation GMC TopKick was launched in 2002 built on the completely redesigned GMT560 commercial platform, spanning Class 4 through Class 8 ratings (C4500, C5500, C6500, C7500, C8500). The vehicle utilized the wider cab architecture shared with the GMC Savana full-size van, mounted atop heavy-duty straight-rail chassis frames with a large forward-tilting composite front clip. Body configurations included regular cabs, four-door crew cabs, commercial chassis cabs, and factory-built extreme-duty pickup conversions. Power was supplied by the 8.1-liter Vortec 8100 gasoline V8, the 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbo-diesel, or the commercial-grade 7.2-liter Caterpillar C7 inline-six diesel engine. These engines were mated to Allison 1000/2000/3000 series automatic transmissions or Eaton Fuller manual gearboxes. Available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive setups, the GMT560 TopKick was manufactured at the Flint Assembly plant until GM ceased production in mid-2009.
