The first-generation Emgrand X7 crossover launched originally under the Gleagle GX7 nameplate, offering a roomy five-passenger layout and reliable atmospheric engines.
The first-generation Emgrand X7 compact crossover SUV, codenamed NL-1, commenced production in 2012. Initially launched under sub-brands as the Gleagle GX7 and Englon SX7, it was rebranded under the unified Geely Emgrand X7 nameplate following sub-brand consolidation. Designed in collaboration with Italdesign Giugiaro, the exterior presented conservative crossover proportions with high ground clearance. Built on Geely's NL platform, it featured front MacPherson struts and independent rear multi-link suspension. Powertrain choices comprised 1.8-liter, 2.0-liter, and 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engines producing up to 148 horsepower. Transmissions included a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic manufactured by DSI. Drive was delivered to the front wheels. The spacious cabin featured sliding and reclining rear seats, automatic climate control, dual airbags, and rear parking sensors. Assembled in China, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, the Emgrand X7 was distributed across Eurasia, Latin America, and Middle Eastern markets.
