The second-generation Ford Capri is a redesigned three-door hatchback/coupe featuring a practical rear liftgate, produced from 1974 to 1978.
The Ford Capri II was introduced in February 1974 as a more practical and refined evolution of its predecessor. Responding to the 1970s oil crisis and changing consumer needs, Ford redesigned the coupe body to incorporate a large rear hatchback door and folding rear seats. The overall styling became cleaner and more streamlined, while interior sound insulation and dash ergonomics were significantly upgraded.
Engine offerings retained the 1.3L, 1.6L, and 2.0L Pinto inline-four engines alongside the flagship 3.0L Essex V6 engine delivering 138 hp. In North America, the Capri II was marketed via Lincoln-Mercury dealerships. Luxury Ghia trim levels with vinyl roofs and alloy wheels were introduced alongside sporty 'S' packages. Production of the Mark II continued until early 1978.
