Body variants encompassed 5-door passenger microvans, cargo panel vans, and single- or double-cab pickup trucks. Engine options were compact four-cylinder gasoline units displacement ranging from 1.0 to 1.3 liters, delivering between 52 and 82 horsepower through a 5-speed manual transmission. The interior emphasized maximum utility and ease of maintenance, capable of seating up to eight occupants in passenger configurations. The original Changan Star achieved massive sales volumes in China and was widely distributed across Southeast Asia, South America, and African commercial markets. Its simple engineering made it legendary for low operational costs and overall durability in tough working conditions.
