The sixth-generation Buick Regal debuted in 2017 riding on General Motors' lightweight E2XX modular architecture, shedding approximately 200 pounds while increasing interior dimensions. For the North American market, Buick innovated by offering the model as a sleek five-door liftback dubbed Regal Sportback and a rugged all-wheel-drive wagon called Regal TourX. In China, where the sedan segment remained dominant, it continued as a traditional four-door notchback sedan.
