The fourth-generation Buick GL8 family arrived in late 2022 with the unveiling of the flagship Buick Century (GL8 Century), followed in 2024 by the introduction of the new-generation GL8 Lu Shang and GL8 PHEV. Built upon General Motors' state-of-the-art vehicle platform supporting the VIP (Vehicle Intelligence Platform) electronic architecture, the model embraces the sleek Pure Design aesthetic featuring split L-shaped matrix LED lighting and Buick's updated tri-shield emblem. Available in opulent four-, six-, and seven-seat configurations, the four-seat flagship offers an executive partitioned cabin equipped with a 32-inch sliding entertainment display, Rolls-Royce-inspired starry ceiling, and zero-gravity seating. Mechanically, the lineup features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology and a nine-speed automatic, alongside an advanced plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain pairing a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with electric drive modules to produce nearly 397 total horsepower. Designed and produced specifically for China by SAIC-GM, the fourth-generation vehicle sets a new benchmark for high-end luxury passenger transport.
