The seventh-generation BMW M3 is the first all-electric M car, built on the Neue Klasse architecture with a four-motor powertrain.
The seventh-generation BMW M3 marks the transition of BMW M's core performance sedan into the fully electric era. Built upon BMW's dedicated Neue Klasse architecture, the new model replaces the internal combustion powertrain of the preceding G80 generation with an advanced four-electric-motor setup. This quad-motor powertrain allows independent wheel torque vectoring, providing instantaneous power delivery and handling precision that surpasses all previous gasoline-powered iterations.
To retain high driver engagement without a mechanical gearbox, BMW M developed steering-wheel paddle controls that manage distinct power stages while eliminating traditional torque interruptions. Instead of artificial combustion soundtracks, the vehicle features an organic acoustic profile tuned to the electric motors. The exterior design significantly shifts away from the large vertical kidney grilles of the G80, adopting slim, illuminated horizontal grilles inspired by historic icons like the BMW 1500 and 507.
