Bentley Mulsanne I gallery (1980–1992)

The first-generation Bentley Mulsanne was produced from 1980 to 1992 as the brand's flagship saloon, developed in tandem with the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit. It was powered by the legendary 6.75-liter Rolls-Royce L-series V8 engine paired with a three-speed GM Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission. In 1982, Bentley introduced the landmark Mulsanne Turbo, featuring a single Garrett AiResearch turbocharger that increased power output by roughly 50 percent, effectively re-establishing Bentley's historic performance pedigree. In 1987, the carbureted engine was replaced with Bosch electronic fuel injection for the Mulsanne S, which also introduced modern round instrumentation, revised hydropneumatic rear suspension, and modified alloy wheels. Handcrafted in Crewe, the Mulsanne was sold globally in limited volumes, primarily throughout the United Kingdom, North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
