Bentley Torcal electric SUV debuts with up to 888 hp
The premiere of the Bentley brand's first-ever all-electric vehicle—the Torcal crossover—took place in London. Serial production of the new model will be organized at the British brand's main plant in the town of Crewe.
The crossover showcases the brand's new styling: instead of a classic radiator grille, a solid panel with an illuminated diamond pattern is installed, an updated Bentley emblem debuted, and the pattern of the taillights is made with a characteristic diamond cut. The model's drag coefficient is 0.279. Wheels with a diameter of 21 and 22 inches are provided for the new model, as well as an electrochromic dimming panoramic roof adjustable via a touchscreen display. The Torcal S modification stands out with black trim, redesigned bumpers and sills, red brake calipers, and 22-inch wheels of a special design.
In the cabin, classic ergonomics are preserved with physical switches on the center console and steering wheel. The interior trim uses leather, natural veneer, aluminum, and, for the first time, 100% merino wool fabric, as well as an Ombré Walnut finish made from a thousand layers of walnut wood and kraft paper. The front seats are equipped with 16 power adjustments, ventilation, and massage, while the rear bench folds electrically. The volume of the main trunk is 460 liters, and the additional front compartment is 90 liters.
The powertrain consists of two permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. The base variant develops 821 hp and 1,194 Nm (0–100 km/h in 3.4 s, top speed of 250 km/h). The Torcal S version delivers 888 hp and 1,350 Nm, accelerating to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 260 km/h. The 800-volt traction battery with a capacity of 113 kWh provides a range of up to 600 km. At a 400 kW station, charging from 10% to 80% takes less than 20 minutes, and in seven minutes the range is replenished by 161 km.
The crossover is equipped with an all-wheel steering chassis with a rear-wheel steering angle of up to 5 degrees (turning diameter is 11.1 m) and a fully active suspension with independent adaptive twin-valve dampers that eliminate the need for traditional stabilizer bars. Standard brake discs have a diameter of 420 mm at the front and 370 mm at the rear, with carbon-ceramic rotors (440 and 410 mm) available as an option. The assistant suite includes 25 sensors, cameras, and radars, a driver facial recognition system, an automated parking assistant, and a reverse-drive assist function following a previously recorded trajectory.
Order books open in late September, and the first deliveries to customers are scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
