Bentley Continental II photos

Reintroduced in 1984, the standalone Bentley Continental nameplate designated a hand-crafted four-seat convertible built alongside the Rolls-Royce Corniche at the Mulliner Park Ward facility in Hythe Road, London. Utilizing a rigid monocoque steel architecture shared with the Mulsanne family, it featured all-round independent coil-spring suspension paired with a high-pressure hydraulic self-levelling rear suspension system engineered under Citroën licence. Under the extensive hood was the iconic 6.75-litre (6,750 cc) Rolls-Royce/Bentley L-Series V8 engine, fed by advanced Bosch electronic fuel injection systems. Drive was directed to the rear wheels initially through a robust GM 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission, replaced in 1992 by a modern electronically controlled GM 4L80-E 4-speed automatic. Over its lifespan, the model underwent updates aligning with Corniche revisions, adopting color-matched composite bumpers, driver-side airbags, and CFC-free automatic climate control. Produced in very limited numbers, the Continental convertible catered to an elite clientele across North America, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
