About this generation

The first-generation Audi RS3 introduced five-cylinder turbo performance to the premium compact class exclusively in a five-door Sportback body.

Launched in late 2010 for the 2011 model year, the original Audi RS3 Sportback defined the hyper-hatch category. Under its hood was a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five engine producing 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque, winning multiple Engine of the Year awards. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission and Haldex-based quattro all-wheel drive, the RS3 accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, giving supercars of its era a serious challenge in a daily-drivable compact package.

Visually distinguished by carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic front wings, widened tracks, honeycomb grilles, and signature oval exhaust pipes, the 8P generation balanced subtle aggression with everyday functionality. Inside, leather sports seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel reinforced its motorsport heritage. As the pioneer of the RS3 moniker, the 8P model established the five-cylinder soundtrack and lightning-fast all-weather traction as non-negotiable hallmarks of Audi's high-performance compact lineup.
