Audi Q5 photos

The first-generation Audi Q5 8R debuted in 2008 as a five-door SUV built on a modular longitudinal platform. This architecture allowed for a permanent quattro all-wheel-drive system with a mechanical center differential. The engine lineup featured four- and six-cylinder TFSI gasoline and TDI diesel units, paired with manual gearboxes, Tiptronic torque-converter automatics, or dual-clutch S Tronic transmissions. A mid-cycle facelift updated the lighting, grille design, and cabin electronics.

The second generation FY arrived in 2017, maintaining the practical five-door SUV body style. The updated platform reduced curb weight while incorporating revised multi-link suspension systems front and rear. Most standard variants transitioned to the quattro with ultra technology system, which decouples the rear axle during cruising to improve efficiency.

Powertrains received mild-hybrid assistance alongside updated turbocharged four-cylinder engines. A mid-generation refresh revised the exterior styling with new lighting signatures, updated the Singleframe grille, and introduced modern infotainment tech. The generation remains in production.
