Toyota Launches Enhanced bZ Woodland with Superior Power and Off-Road Capabilities

As anticipation builds for the upcoming RAV4, Toyota is broadening its electric bZ series by introducing the Woodland variant. Previously known as the bZ4X, the bZ Woodland distinguishes itself with a more rugged aesthetic and is treated as a distinct model within the bZ lineup.

Distinctive Design and Enhanced Features

The Woodland version features black cladding around new 18-inch alloy wheels, replacing the original body-colored arches. These wheels come with removable covers and can be equipped with optional all-terrain tires. A slight suspension lift increases ground clearance to 8.3 inches, complemented by robust roof rails and redesigned, flatter taillights. The larger quarter glass highlights its increased size compared to the standard bZ model.

Overall, the bZ Woodland is extended by nearly six inches in length and gains almost an inch in rear height, resulting in a 2.3 cubic feet boost in cargo space, totaling over 30 cubic feet with the seats up. Toyota positions the Woodland as a separate entity, marking it as the third electric vehicle alongside the original bZ and the C-HR, both unveiled recently.

Performance and Powertrain

The Woodland variant simplifies the drivetrain options by exclusively offering a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system paired with a larger 74.7-kWh battery pack. This combination delivers an estimated range of 260 miles, which is slightly less than the Limited AWD and XLE AWD models. Like its counterparts, the Woodland includes a NACS port for Tesla Supercharger compatibility, enabling DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.

With a total output of 375 horsepower, the bZ Woodland is the most powerful in the lineup, surpassing the standard AWD model by 37 hp. Although Toyota has not revealed the exact 0-60 mph time, the comparable Subaru Trailseeker accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, making it Subaru’s fastest model to date. The Woodland is capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds, similar to the shorter bZ variant, though towing heavy loads will significantly reduce its range.

Additional Options and Availability

Customers can choose the Premium Package, which includes features such as a fixed panoramic glass roof, a digital rearview mirror, a JBL audio system, and ventilated front seats with a memory function for the driver’s seat. A new color option, Stepping Stone, is added to the existing palette of Trueno Blue, Raven Black, Pavement, Steel, and Halo.

Pricing details have yet to be announced but are expected to be higher than the outgoing 2025 bZ4X XLE AWD, which starts at $40,545 including destination charges. Full pricing information will be available closer to the Woodland’s release in early 2026. Additionally, the bZ Woodland will be marketed in Europe and Japan next spring under the name bZ4X Touring.

For those preferring the standard models, they will become available at dealerships in the latter half of this year, with pricing anticipated to start above the current entry-level $38,465 XLE FWD.
