Powertrain Expectations

Hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants are expected to be part of the new lineup, but it remains uncertain whether Toyota will discontinue the standard gasoline-only version in the U.S. market. Should this change occur, consumers might face a higher starting price, considering the 2025 RAV4 Hybrid begins at $33,695—approximately $3,000 more than the gasoline counterpart.

The RAV4’s Role in Toyota’s Lineup

While the RAV4 may not be Toyota’s most thrilling vehicle, its impressive sales performance supports the development of more exciting models like the GR86 and GR Corolla. Without the financial success of popular SUVs like the RAV4, Toyota wouldn’t be able to hint at the return of iconic names like the Celica or assure the continuation of the Supra brand beyond the current BMW-influenced generation.
