Dodge Durango Shifts to Exclusive V-8 Engines Starting 2026

Dodge is fully embracing its role as Stellantis’ performance-oriented brand. The company has declared that starting in 2026, all Durango models will come exclusively with V-8 engines.

The base Durango GT will be equipped with a 5.7-liter V-8 engine, delivering 360 horsepower, an increase of 65 hp over the previous Pentastar V-6. This boost in performance comes with a price hike, as the 2026 Durango GT will now commence at $44,490, marking a $4,000 increase from earlier models.

Upgraded Durango R/T

The R/T variant receives a significant powertrain upgrade, transitioning from a 5.7-liter to a 6.4-liter V-8 392 engine. This new engine generates 470 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque, which is 115 hp more than its predecessor. Dodge has not specified an exact starting price for the R/T, only mentioning it will be priced below $50,000. The 2025 R/T started at $49,995 before a $1,995 destination charge, and similar pricing is anticipated for the 2026 model.

Revamped 2026 SRT Hellcat

The 2026 SRT Hellcat will feature an updated Jailbreak trim with enhanced customization options, including six wheel designs and five interior color choices. It boasts a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. Despite the overall price increase in the Durango lineup, the SRT Hellcat will be $6,000 less expensive for the 2026 model year, now starting at $81,990.

Availability and Ordering

Dodge has announced that orders for the 2026 Durango GT and SRT Hellcat will open on August 13, with deliveries expected to commence in the fourth quarter. Additionally, orders for the R/T AWD will begin later this year.
