Ram Introduces New Sport Variants to 2026 2500 Heavy Duty Series, Aligning with Light Duty Models
For pickup enthusiasts seeking more dynamic options, 2026 brings exciting additions. Following Ford's enhancement of the F-150 with the sporty Lobo package and GMC's introduction of the AT4 variant for its all-electric Sierra, Ram is now elevating its 2500 Heavy Duty lineup. Building on the return of the Hemi V-8 engine to the 1500 series, Ram unveils the Warlock and Black Express trims, branded as their "Sport Truck" editions.
Engine and Performance Options
Potential buyers will be pleased to learn that both new sport trims are based on the competitively priced Tradesman model, positioned just below the Rebel HD in Ram's Heavy Duty hierarchy. Customers can choose between a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 gasoline engine delivering 405 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, or a robust Cummins 6.7-liter turbodiesel producing 430 horsepower and an impressive 1,075 lb-ft of torque. Both powertrains are paired with the Torqueflite HD eight-speed automatic transmission.
Design and Standard Features
The sport trims feature Crew Cab configurations available in a variety of colors including Diamond Black, Bright White, Granite Crystal, Silver Zenith, Forged Blue, Flame Red, Ceramic Grey, and Molten Red. Standard amenities encompass power-adjustable Convex tow mirrors, 20-inch wheels, comfortable cloth bench seats, and durable cloth carpeting.
Differentiating the Black Express and Warlock
The Black Express trim offers versatility with options for rear- or four-wheel drive and either a long or short bed, making it suitable for both work and sport. It stands out with a sport performance hood, body-colored bumpers, grille surrounds, black cab-length side steps, and black-finished 20-inch wheels. Interior enhancements include carpeted floor mats and standard front and rear parking sensors. This trim adds approximately $2,495 to the Tradesman base price, starting at $53,735.
In contrast, the Warlock trim is exclusively available in four-wheel drive with a short bed adorned with distinctive “Warlock” decals. It features blacked-out grille surrounds, flares, bumpers, and 20-inch diamond-cut wheels wrapped in 34-inch Goodyear Duratrac A/T tires. Additional upgrades include a skid plate for the transfer case, a limited-slip rear differential, Bilstein dampers designed for both on-road and off-road performance, and hill descent control. The interior is equipped with all-weather floor mats for enhanced durability. The Warlock trim is priced higher, adding $2,995 to the Tradesman model, with a starting price of $57,165.
