2027 Ram Power Wagon Debuts with Potent Diesel Powertrain

Key Highlights

  • New High-Output 6.7L Cummins diesel delivers 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque.
  • Equipped with locking differentials, disconnecting sway bar, and 13 inches of ground clearance.
  • Now offers fifth-wheel and gooseneck towing prep.
  • Expected to launch late 2026, with a starting price of $88,470.

Ram enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as the brand expands its Power Wagon range with a robust diesel option. Following the reintroduction of the legendary Hemi V-8 in its 1500 series, Ram is now unveiling a diesel-powered off-road powerhouse for 2027.

The 2027 Power Wagon is fueled by a 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output turbo diesel engine, generating 430 horsepower and a staggering 1,075 pound-feet of torque. Coupled with a 31-gallon fuel tank, this truck is capable of covering an estimated 600 miles on a single fill.

Uncompromised Off-Road Ability

This marks the first time Ram pairs a high-output diesel motor with the modern Power Wagon, yet it remains a formidable off-road contender. Standard gear includes electronic locking differentials at both axles, a front sway bar that disconnects for improved articulation, Bilstein shocks, and extensive underbody armor.

The Power Wagon retains its five-link coil rear suspension, delivering over 13 inches of ground clearance. It also boasts impressive off-road approach, departure, and breakover angles at 26.1°, 26.0°, and 20.6° respectively. Mopar rock rails are standard, providing extra protection when navigating tight trails.

Enhancements for towing are also a highlight. A new 3.42 rear axle ratio works in harmony with the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission, optimizing the diesel’s torque delivery and improving towing capabilities. For the first time, Ram offers prep packages for fifth-wheel and gooseneck towing, along with an optional automatic-leveling rear air suspension.

Visually, the truck commands attention with 34-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 20-inch Satin Black wheels. Its exterior features a sport performance hood, Power Wagon bed graphics, and subtle satin black Cummins badges on the fenders, emphasizing its rugged persona.

Inside, the diesel-powered Power Wagon mirrors the premium feel found in Ram's Heavy Duty models. Buyers can select between durable cloth seats or heated and ventilated leather buckets. Advanced technology offerings include a massive 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, a front passenger display, and high-end Alpine or Harman Kardon audio systems.

Safety and assistance technologies come standard with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring that includes trailer coverage, and a surround-view camera system tailored for both towing and off-road scenarios.
