Workhorse Returns: The 2027 Ram ProMaster City Unveiled
The 2027 Ram ProMaster City is set to return to the commercial market, arriving in the first quarter of 2027 with a starting price of $39,995, which includes a $2,595 destination charge. Ram plans to offer the compact van in 11 distinct configurations across cargo and passenger body styles, aimed at business owners and fleet operators looking for an affordable and versatile work vehicle.
The lineup is divided into two trims: Tradesman and SLT. Buyers can customize their van with six window and panel combinations as well as two rear access options—a traditional liftgate or split rear doors. The entry-level ProMaster City Tradesman Cargo carries the base sub-$40,000 price tag, while the Tradesman Passenger Wagon starts at $42,695. Standard equipment on Tradesman models includes a digital rearview mirror, a 10.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, one-touch up/down power windows, and heated front seats.
Stepping up to the SLT trim adds wireless phone charging, a heated steering wheel, 17-inch wheels, fog lamps, and additional convenience amenities. In SLT trim, the cargo van starts at $41,495, whereas the SLT passenger variant—which can be configured to seat either five or eight passengers—is priced from $44,195.
Underneath, the 2027 ProMaster City rides on Stellantis' K0 global mid-size commercial van architecture, sharing its mechanical underpinnings with European models like the Citroën Dispatch and Opel Vivaro. Motive power is provided by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 166 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque.
A key design highlight is the van's compact profile, standing at just 77 inches tall, which allows it to easily clear height restrictions inside most standard parking garages. Despite its manageable dimensions, Ram is targeting serious commercial capability, projecting a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds and a payload capacity exceeding 2,000 pounds.
