Ram Confirms the Return of the TRX Supertruck

Ram has officially announced the comeback of its legendary 1500 TRX model. Antonio Filosa, the newly appointed CEO of Stellantis, revealed the truck's revival during the company's second-quarter financial briefing, emphasizing its potential for high-profit margins.

"Vehicles equipped with V-8 engines, like the Ram 1500 TRX, will not only increase our sales volumes but also provide substantial margins per unit," Filosa stated to investors, according to Mopar Insiders.

Production Timeline

Although Filosa did not specify the exact start date for production, Mopar Insiders cites reliable sources indicating that the refreshed TRX could be available at dealerships by January 2026. Given their accurate prediction of the TRX's return in March, this timeline is considered credible.

Expected Features

Details about the new TRX's design remain under wraps, but based on its predecessor, it is expected to feature a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V-8 engine producing around 702 horsepower. With Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis also leading Stellantis's SRT performance division, anticipation is high for an even more powerful engine, potentially surpassing the 720-horsepower output of the Raptor R, while maintaining its exceptional off-road capabilities and robust design.

Strategic Implications

The return of the TRX is a key component of Ram's broader strategy to re-emphasize V-8 engines. The company has confirmed the reintroduction of the Hemi engine to the 1500 lineup for the 2026 model year and has announced plans for 25 new product launches within the next 18 months. This indicates that the TRX is just the beginning of a significant shift.

With current fuel economy regulations being less restrictive under the present administration, Ram and its sister brand, Dodge, are likely to continue their focus on powerful eight-cylinder engines without concerns over regulatory limitations.
