The 1,100-HP Genesis X Skorpio Off-Roader Tackled The Tutto Bene Hillclimb In Italy

Genesis has officially showcased its wild X Skorpio concept in action, marking the vehicle's European dynamic debut at the 2026 Tutto Bene Hillclimb in Italy. Genesis Magma Racing factory driver André Lotterer took the Mad Max-inspired machine up the 9-kilometer (5.6-mile) Strada Borromea mountain route on Mottarone, situated near Lake Maggiore. The outing proved that the radical off-roader, which first surfaced as a concept earlier in the year, is a fully functional vehicle capable of tackling paved mountain passes despite being engineered primarily for high-speed desert running.

The X Skorpio is a radical departure from the brand's traditional luxury portfolio, resembling an aggressive trophy truck wearing Genesis design cues. Built around a specialized tubular chassis with an integrated full roll cage, the vehicle utilizes heavy-duty components sourced directly from off-road endurance racing specialists. Its sinister exterior bodywork blends fiberglass, carbon fiber, and Kevlar, all riding on enormous 40-inch off-road tires. Under the hood lies a potent V8 engine that produces 1,100 horsepower and 850 pound-feet (1,152 Newton-meters) of torque. The body panels and hardware were specifically engineered for quick replacement in remote desert conditions without requiring lengthy workshop projects.

Despite its rugged character and noticeable body roll on tight switchbacks, Genesis did not abandon comfort and technology inside the cockpit. The interior features ergonomic racing seats with four-point harnesses, automatic climate control, and an instrument cluster mounted directly onto the steering wheel to keep critical driving data in the driver's line of sight. In addition, a motorized central screen can slide across the dashboard between the driver and passenger depending on whether the vehicle is operating solo or with a co-driver.

Although originally presented as a one-off showpiece, Genesis intends to build a limited production run of the X Skorpio for wealthy enthusiasts, primarily catering to customers in the Middle East. The automaker confirmed it had already received several reservations shortly after the initial reveal. These production units will be designated strictly for off-road use and will not be street-legal. The X Skorpio follows the brand's earlier rugged experiment, the X Gran Equator concept, which targeted the Rivian R1S and electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class, although that model was not designated for production.
