Genesis Magma GT Concept: 800-HP Twin-Turbo V8 Supercar in Action

A new video captures the Genesis Magma GT Concept competing in a hill climb event, providing the first real listen to its powertrain in action. Genesis previously confirmed that the mid-engine supercar concept packs an unspecified twin-turbocharged V8 engine capable of producing up to 800 horsepower.

It has been less than a year since Genesis initially unveiled the Magma GT Concept. While the automaker has remained vocal about wanting a legitimate halo model in its portfolio, it has not yet formally confirmed production. However, that has not kept the company from demonstrating the vehicle in public.

Published by the YouTube channel NM2255 | Raw Car Sounds, the footage captures the sleek concept accelerating from a standstill on greasy asphalt, searching for traction. Even though the driver was not pushing the car to its absolute limits, the rear stepped out at moderate speeds. More importantly, the clip reveals the soundtrack of the twin-turbo V8, which emits a deep burble fitting for a modern supercar.

Earlier in June, Genesis showcased the interior design of the GT. The cabin features a leather-draped, driver-focused layout equipped with minimal digital screens and a traditional analog gauge cluster, presenting a luxury-first aesthetic over stark minimalism.

Genesis followed that reveal by presenting the Magma GT3 concept, which featured a widened track, enlarged air intakes, and an aggressive aerodynamic package designed for circuit duty. Company representatives described it as an independent study meant to guide future high-performance offerings. Furthermore, Charles Fuster, Genesis Brand Director for Italy and France, indicated that the Magma GT program is not merely a temporary design study and that the brand aims to bring such a halo car to fruition.
