Nissan Qashqai e-POWER Claims Guinness Mileage Crown on One Fuel Fill
The Nissan Qashqai e-POWER has earned a place in the record books after completing a 1,230-mile drive on a single tank of fuel. Guinness World Records recognized the achievement as the longest trip ever made by a non-plug-in electrified SUV using REEV technology. The test was carried out in Colombia, where the route included city streets, open highways, and steep mountain sections, and the result was confirmed by official judges.
This was Nissan’s third endurance run of this kind, following earlier demonstrations in the United Kingdom and Australia. The company used the exercise to show what the newest version of its e-POWER hybrid system can do in everyday road conditions.
A Route That Tested Every Aspect Of Efficiency
The journey ran from July 14 to July 17, 2026, beginning in Bogotá and ending on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Over the course of the drive, the Qashqai faced traffic, long-distance cruising, and demanding elevation changes, all without stopping for refueling. Nissan says the entire run was tracked and independently validated before the record was approved.
The distance far surpasses the official WLTP estimate for the third-generation Qashqai e-POWER, which is rated at more than 746 miles from its 14.5-gallon fuel tank. Even so, the company notes that results like this depend heavily on terrain, driving style, and route conditions, so they should not be treated as typical real-world range.
What Changed In The Latest e-POWER System
The current e-POWER setup, launched in Europe in 2025, keeps the same basic idea: the gasoline engine generates electricity, while the electric motor alone drives the wheels. The newest version also uses a compact 5-in-1 architecture that combines the motor, generator, inverter, reducer, and multiplier into one integrated unit.
According to Nissan, the updated system cuts fuel use by 12 percent compared with the previous version, returning 52.3 mpg on the WLTP cycle. It also lowers CO2 emissions to 102 g/km, reduces cabin noise by 5.6 dB, raises output to 205 horsepower in Sport mode, and stretches service intervals from 9,300 miles to 12,400 miles.
Seen in context, the Colombia run is best understood as a showcase for the technology’s strengths under ideal circumstances rather than a promise of what every driver will see in daily use.
