Introducing the Electric Porsche Cayenne S: A Perfect Middle Ground
- Porsche broadens its electric Cayenne range with a new S variant.
- The S model fits between the entry-level and Turbo versions.
- Priced at $128,650 including destination charges.
Porsche is aligning its electric Cayenne lineup to mirror the combustion engine models, a tactic previously applied to the Macan series. Following the launch of the base and Turbo electric versions last November, the brand now introduces a third option to bridge the gap between these two.
The Cayenne S retains dual electric motors and all-wheel drive but offers a reduced combined power output of 536 horsepower. Engaging launch control boosts this figure temporarily to 657 hp. While not the fastest in the range, the electric Cayenne S accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and tops out at 155 mph.
Central to this model is the 113-kWh battery pack capable of supporting ultra-fast 400-kW charging. With access to a compatible charger, the battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in under 16 minutes. DC charging is accessible through the driver’s side port, while the passenger side is dedicated to AC charging.
Visually, Porsche has given the electric Cayenne S unique styling cues with redesigned front and rear bumpers, featuring accents in Volcano Grey Metallic. Buyers in the U.S. can select from 13 different exterior colors and a wide array of customization options. The vehicle also includes Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Active Ride suspension, ceramic-composite brakes, and the Sport Chrono Package.
The Sport Chrono Package unlocks an additional 120 hp for 10 seconds via a push-to-pass feature. Although a Track mode is available, it’s unlikely that many owners will take this sizable electric SUV to a racetrack. A new Interior Style Package debuts with the Cayenne S, offering a two-tone black and green interior that complements the Mystic Green exterior paint. Green highlights extend to the doors, steering wheel, and dashboard for a cohesive look.
The starting price for the electric Cayenne S is $128,650, including destination fees. This places it $17,300 above the base model but $36,700 less than the Turbo variant. Porsche expects to begin deliveries across the U.S. by the end of summer.

Outlook
Insights from Motor1: Expanding the electric Cayenne family offers customers more choices, and further additions are expected. A coupe-style version with a sloping roofline is anticipated, reflecting Porsche’s approach with the traditional Cayenne lineup.
The luxury EV market’s growth remains gradual, and it’s uncertain how well buyers will respond to another six-figure electric SUV. A more affordable single-motor, rear-wheel-drive Cayenne under $100,000 seems unlikely. Porsche’s smaller Macan, available in base, 4, and 4S trims, remains the brand’s electric SUV option below that price mark.
