Electric Transformation: $300K Porsche 911 Restomod Trades Combustion for EV Power
- Kindred Motorworks is crafting an electric version of the classic Porsche 911.
- The rear-mounted electric motor generates 375 horsepower.
- Starting production in 2027, priced at $299,000, with only 12 units planned.
The Porsche 911 has long been celebrated as an icon of internal combustion performance, especially known for its signature flat-six engine. However, Kindred Motorworks challenges tradition by electrifying this classic model with their innovative G-Series electric conversion.
Under the hood, the 911 is powered by Kindred's Grayback EV system featuring a rear electric motor outputting 375 horsepower—an increase of 200 horsepower over the original engine—and delivering 280 lb-ft of torque. The setup includes a 400-volt, 62.2 kWh battery pack with a near-perfect 40/60 weight distribution. This enables the vehicle to achieve an estimated range of 225 miles on a single charge.
According to Kindred, the electric upgrade provides quicker throttle response, enhanced handling precision, and a power delivery that complements the car’s original character rather than overpowering it. This conversion is compatible with Porsche 911 models manufactured between 1974 and 1989.
Inside, modern amenities elevate the driving experience, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, an advanced HVAC system, heated front seats, MagSafe wireless charging, premium Nappa leather upholstery, and updated control interfaces.
Kindred plans to commence production and deliveries in early 2027. Detailed options and paint schemes will be announced in August. Each of the exclusive 12 cars will undergo a comprehensive restoration process.
