BMW Unveils the 2027 iX4 With Up to 603 HP and 428 Miles of Range
Fresh off the debut of the new iX3, BMW has introduced its swoopier sibling, the 2027 BMW iX4. Serving as the automaker’s latest Neue Klasse model, the crossover blends coupe-like styling with sixth-generation eDrive technology. The iX4 will enter production early next year in two dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations.
The entry-level iX4 50 xDrive produces a combined 463 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph. Powered by a 112.2-kilowatt-hour usable battery pack, the iX4 50 can travel up to 428 miles on a full charge, according to manufacturer estimates. When equipped with the optional trailer hitch, the electric crossover can tow up to 4,400 pounds.
The performance-focused iX4 M60 xDrive matches the powertrain of the iX3 M60, generating 603 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. This version sprints from a standstill to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, with an increased top speed of 149 mph. BMW has not yet announced official range figures for the M60 variant.
In terms of design, the iX4 incorporates BMW's latest styling language, featuring iconic kidney grilles and twin headlights. Every iX4 model comes standard with the M Sport Package, which brings 20-inch M wheels and optional M Sport brakes with blue calipers. The interior is largely shared with the iX3, highlighting the Panoramic iDrive system anchored by a 17.9-inch central touchscreen display.
The iX4 M60 xDrive receives dedicated upgrades, including a black diffuser, black M mirror caps, distinct badging, 21-inch wheels, and red-caliper M Sport brakes. An M-specific spoiler increases rear-axle downforce. Mechanically, the M60 is fitted with Adaptive M Suspension with electronically controlled dampers, variable-ratio sport steering, front-axle anti-roll bar links, and an electronically controlled M Sport differential, along with exclusive M Sport and M Sport Plus drive modes. The cabin gains a dedicated M Sport steering wheel with a red 12 o'clock center stripe and a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
The 2027 BMW iX4 will arrive at dealerships in March 2027, starting at $66,220 for the iX4 50, followed shortly after by the iX4 M60.
