Avatr Unveils T09 Concept In Paris With 1,000-Horsepower Hybrid Powertrain
Avatr unveiled its T09 concept on October 11 at the Paris Motor Show, previewing an upcoming three-row luxury SUV equipped with an extended-range hybrid powertrain delivering over 1,000 horsepower. Majority-owned by Changan Automobile and battery manufacturer CATL, Avatr also integrates in-car technology developed in partnership with Huawei. The concept represents the international debut of a production model previously revealed in China in September, with domestic sales planned for 2026 and prospective overseas exports slated for after 2027.
Inside, the cabin accommodates six occupants in a 2+2+2 configuration featuring individual captain chairs across all three rows. The dashboard is dominated by a pillar-to-pillar digital array consisting of a 10.25-inch instrument cluster positioned between two 17.2-inch displays for the driver and front passenger. Chairman Chen Zhuo highlighted that the T09 establishes a new Flagship product line emphasizing prestige and commanding presence alongside the existing Digital series. Chief designer Nader Faghihzadeh noted that the model introduces the brand's Vision Xpectra styling philosophy. Measuring approximately 17.1 feet in length and 6.6 feet in width, the SUV is sized to rival established three-row luxury models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7, and Audi Q9, with anticipated pricing in China around 500,000 yuan (approximately $70,500).
The powertrain relies on an extended-range setup centered around a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and three electric motors powering the front and rear axles for all-wheel drive. The setup reportedly pairs a 208-horsepower combustion engine with electric motors rated at 241 hp, 302 hp, and 302 hp, allowing for a top speed of 137 mph. Energy is stored in a 71.24-kWh CATL Freevoy battery pack designed specifically for extended-range hybrids. Chinese regulatory filings suggest an electric-only driving range of 186 to 205 miles on the CLTC cycle. While these technical specifications are derived from Chinese certification data, Avatr has not yet confirmed market-specific tuning or export specifications for European and international buyers.
