Volkswagen ID.Buzz Sees Substantial Price Cuts

The Volkswagen ID.Buzz, with its initial MSRP set at $61,545, isn't exactly the budget-friendly option that many family-oriented buyers are seeking. This has led to a shift in the market, with some dealers beginning to offer significant discounts on the nostalgically designed van, allowing buyers to secure a more attractive deal depending on their location.

According to Cars.com, numerous ID.Buzz models are being sold at considerable markdowns. In Colorado, a state known for generous EV incentives, several Pro S variants are available for $11,350 below the MSRP, priced at $48,581. Even larger reductions can be found for select 1st Edition 4Motion models in New York, where the official starting price of $71,545 is being slashed by $15,250, bringing the cost down to just over $57,000.

Additional Discount Offers

Across the nation, other discounts on the ID.Buzz are present, though they are generally smaller, ranging from $500 to $2,500 off the MSRP based on the specific configuration. Most of the vehicles listed online are priced at the manufacturer's suggested price, with only a few seeing markups. Therefore, even without a discount, prospective buyers are unlikely to pay above the standard price.

Trim Levels and Pricing

Volkswagen is offering the ID.Buzz in five different trims: Pro S, Pro S Plus, Pro S Plus with 4Motion, 1st Edition, and 1st Edition with 4Motion. The Pro S variant starts at $61,545, inclusive of a $1,550 destination charge. Upgrading to the Pro S Plus raises the price to $66,040, while adding all-wheel drive bumps it up to $69,545. The non-4Motion 1st Edition starts at $67,045.

Market Challenges

The ID.Buzz, a key model for Volkswagen, is now available amid declining interest in electric vehicles and increasing uncertainty, particularly in the United States. Former President Donald Trump has advocated for ending the $7,500 federal tax credit for new EV purchases and has threatened to impose a 25 percent tariff on imported cars, adding to the market's unpredictability.
