Is Audi preparing a Mid-Engined Sports Vehicle?

Audi is said to be working on its new sports vehicle. It will be placed between the TT and the R8 supercar. This rumour has been circulating again and again. AutoBild has reported it again. But should we believe in it?

According to the edition, the automaker is cooking up the offering together with Porsche. A mid-engined sports vehicle will be among the new R family of cars with high performance.

The German edition says that the model will come out with the R6 production name. Now it is known as the PO455. There is no information about its technical capabilities. However, we know that the sports car will be originated on the next-gen Porsche Boxter. Different engines will be taken from the German brother together with a 4-wheel drive set-up.

The rumour appeared after the introduction of the quattro concept 6 years ago. It is based on the A5. It was equipped with a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine generating 408 hp and torque of 354 pound-feet. Several years after that there were reports about a more extreme version from Audi.
