Hood Latch Issue in Nissan Altima led to a Recall

Nissan Altimas manufactured from 2013 till 2015 are facing a recall because of the secondary hood latch.

846,000 vehicles can be affected due to this issue. The problem stems from the secondary hood latch binding and remaining in the unlatched state even under the condition of a closed hood. In case the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is meanwhile not engaged, there is a chance that the hood might suddenly open during driving. This will increase the risk of a crash.

The cars under consideration were produced in the period between March 6, 2012 and December 31, 2014. Nissan assures that they have already faced a recall. It’s a pity, but the last remedy scheme may not have been performed consistently to get rid of the safety risk.

Now the company will inform all the owners with the affected cars about replacing the hood latch with a new one at dealerships for free.
