Cold Weather Testing of BMW 1 Series Sedan

The BMW 1 Series sedan was caught by paparazzi. The vehicle was tested in snowy winter conditions.

The 1 Series sedan is to be the smallest 4-door vehicle from the automaker. It will be a rival to the Audi A3 sedan and Mercedes-Benz CLA. The offering will come out towards the end of this year. Just like the 2 Series Active Tourer and the X1, the vehicle under consideration will be equipped with the UKL front-wheel-drive chassis. This platform is also used for some MINI cars.

Paparazzi snapped the BMW 1 Series in 2015. The model’s shape reminds of the BMW Compact Sedan Concept that was introduced at the Motor Show held in Guangzhou last year in November.

The 1 Series hatchback stablemates will lend the offering their powertrains. The 1 Series sedan will be sold with a 6-speed manual gearbox or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The 3rd-gen BMW 1 Series will be regular with front-wheel drive set-up. Optionally, clients will be able to obtain BMW’s xDRIVE four-wheel drive.

The compact sedan slot is growing and the automaker is entering the market a little bit late.
