Will i5 from BMW be a Crossover?

Rumours about the BMW i5 are back in action. According to the latest report, the offering will take the guise of a crossover.

Earlier, reports had indicated that the i5 would be a stretched variant of the i3 or a sedan. Though, Auto Express claims that the executives chose the guise of a crossover.

Everybody knows that the crossover sector is having great times. The customers want to obtain crossovers with open wallets. That is why the new model could become very popular. A green i5 crossover would become a rival to the Tesla Model X and the Audi Q6 e-tron.

There is no much information at the moment. Auto Express assures that the BMW i5 will use lightweight carbon fibber. Besides, it will receive a fully-electric powerplant. In this case, the model will be able to have a range of more than 200 miles (or 321 km). The crossover will boast autonomous driving technology and a whole bunch of connectivity options.

We do not know when the i5 will appear. Speculation states that a launch will be scheduled in order to coincide with the latest German incentives for EVs. Probably, we should expect it in more than a year.
