The Tucson Fuel Cell did not confirm Hyundai

The Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell is not marketing as fast as the producer has expected.

The Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell has marketed only 273 cars around the globe. This number is as of last month. We remind you, that the Korean automaker’s aim was to sell 1,000 vehicles by the end of 2015.

Yonhap news service assures that the car-builder sold 76 vehicles two years ago, delivered 128 vehicles in 2014 and sold only 69 cars through last month. The company has sold only 29 crossover models in South Korea. All the rest sales belong to Europe and the U.S.

The lack of hydrogen fuelling infrastructure in the world and a relatively high price have contributed to such slow sales of the car. It is possible to find only eleven public hydrogen filling stations in the vehicle’s home country. Just two of them are situated in Seoul, the capital of the country. The automaker is currently selling the model only in Southern California, as there are twelve hydrogen fuelling stations.

The Tucson Fuel Cell can be obtained for lease at $499 per month for 36 months. Hydrogen fuel is included in the price. Toyota, Honda and some other producers are also preparing their hydrogen fuel cell models. It will be interesting to compare their offerings in the market conditions.
