Hyundai shows the First Teaser of the New Elantra

Hyundai has prepared the first teaser picture of its innovated Elantra compact sedan.

Judging from the picture, the 6th-gen Elantra presents a major departure concerning design in comparison with the outgoing offering. It looks like the automaker wants to move the model more upmarket. The vehicle will definitely benefit from its polished design. Though, don’t be in a hurry, all teasers show us perfect vehicles.

The car boasts a big hexagonal radiator enclosure. It also was fitted with a pair of Jaguar-like headlamps and some chrome accents in the area of fog lights. The model rides on a latest set of cool alloy wheels. The 2016 Elantra will have a very much sloped roofline engine with a short rear overhang. There also will be famous character lines, a chrome trim on the bottom half of the vehicle’s windows and a rakish windscreen.

Actually, there is not much information at the moment. According to the reports, the US-spec offering will be equipped with a 1.6-litre T-GDi engine generating 175 hp. It will be joined to the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The gearbox will enable the car to return 43 mpg US on the highway. Speaking about the vehicle’s body, it will be 53% made of high-strength steel. As to the drag coefficient, it will stand at 0.27. That will make the new Elantra one of the most aerodynamic vehicles in its segment.

If you move inside the cabin, you will see that the innovated model has an 8-inch touchscreen for its infotainment system. There also is a remote start, two USB ports, front and rear heated seats and an Infiniti audio system. Expect the vehicle to have support for both Apple Car Play and Android Auto. As to the safety, the producer has prepared rear cross traffic alert, blind spot detection and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection for its new Elantra.

For now the automaker does not want to reveal when the model will be launched officially. Gossips indicate that the 2016 Elantra will debut at the Auto Show in LA this November. Though, the KDM-spec Avante will probably be launched sometime earlier. It looks like this one will go on sale till the end of 2015.
