European Approval for Diesel Fix from VW

VW has confirmed that authorities had encouraged its proposed fix for almost 8.5 million diesel motors in Europe.

The approval will extend across 28 markets of the EU. The fixes will be employed to the 2.0, 1.6 and 1.2-litre diesel units. All of them will get a software update taking nearly 30 minutes of time. Moreover, the 1.6-litre motor will need a piece of mesh to be installed for air flow regulation. This will add 30 more minutes of work. The automaker named the add-on a “flow rectifier”. It will be placed in front of the air mass sensor.

The German company will make a recall for the cars in waves. It will start from the 2.0-litre offerings in the beginning of 2016. The 1.6-litre fix is scheduled for the third quarter of the year, while the 1.2-litre fix will be off at the end of the 2nd quarter.

Clients whose cars suffered from the diesel scandal in Europe will be notified right away as soon as the KBA provides their addresses. The brand will provide the customers with free rental vehicles.

VW reaffirmed that all cars are technically safe to use and can be driven on the road.
