BMW will manufacture its Next-Gen X3 in South Africa

BMW has revealed its intentions to create a 6 billion ZAR (almost $420 million) investment. The investment will be put in its Rosslyn plant in South Africa. In such a way, the automaker wants to prepare it the next-generation X3 manufacturing.

The rumours about the company’s SA plant circulated nearly a month ago. It was supposed that the plant will be partially powered by manure. Now BMW wants to move some of the next-gen X3 manufacturing there in order to take the pressure away from its American factory. This move intends to free up production capacity at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. The producer is going to produce the X7 in several years. The 3-Series Sedan manufacturing will happen at another factory that manages to deal with extra work in order not to overload the Rosslyn assembly factory situated in South Africa.

The innovated X3 SAV has a codename G01. It was snapshot during its preliminary testing. It will probably ride with the G08 long wheelbase derivative. Both of them will base on the CLAR platform. Thankfully to it, the weight will shift 220 lbs (or 100 kg) down. The fact that the innovated X3 will be a little bit larger than the F25 does not influence the weight loss.

The next-generation X3 from BMW will be out in 2017. After that the LWB offering will come out. By the way, the last model may be intended for China only.
