3.0L V6 Diesel Unit from Audi needs a Fix

Audi is going to fix the problems with its 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine.

The German producer is going to update the emissions control software on more than 85,000 VW Group cars that received the aforementioned TDI unit. The update will be called up for American government emission certification for the software. The automaker made a statement concerning the installation of the updated software. It is supposed to be installed after the authorities approve it.

The problem with the six-cylinder mill bears on the use of auxiliary emissions control software. It was not detected during the tests. The producer assures that the AECDs will be fully described and registered in the application together with the updated software.

Totally, 3 AECDs were used while being not declared. One of them has to deal with the temperature scenario of the exhaust-gas cleaning set-up. As to the other two, they avoided deposits on the Ad-Blue metering wedge and HC poisoning of the SCR catalyst with hydrocarbons that weren’t burnt. In accordance with the law of the United States, the software for the temperature scenario of the exhaust-gas cleaning set-up is a fault device.

The engine under consideration equips different Audi, Porsche and VW vehicles. There are the Audi Q5, Q7, Q6, A7 and A8 among them. As to the models of the other automakers, Porsche Cayenne and VW Toaureg ride with it.
