Massive Recall of BMW 3 Series

In the best traditions of German precautions BMW decided to play safe and deal with faulty airbag inflators of 3 Series to prevent possible accidents.

Truth be told, the affected vehicles are seriously outdated by now: the newest date back to 2006 and the latest are 15 years old. Considering that their amount crosses 1.5-millionth line, voluntary recall is the best option to be chosen. Old ties allow BMW to change the airbags now, because their supplier is still in operation. Main problem with these safety parts is the danger of gas generator rupture.

In 2013 almost 240,000 items from the same 3 Series line-up already faced the recall. Supplier’s fault was proven back then, and with the new developments it became known that the malfunctioning time span was longer than initially specified.
