EPA Assessed BMW i3 Range Extender with 117 MPGe
Specially boosted BMW i3 became a subject of examination of Environmental Protection Agency.
Miles per gallon petrol equivalent of BMW i3 REx is defined as 117 considering petrol consumption equivalent to 39 mpg in a combined cycle. Range extended allows the car to cover 72 miles using only the electric motor.
One of the pioneering cars tested by EPA MPGe standard was Chevrolet Volt. It lent its motor characteristics to the German brand and yet managed to score 19 MPGe and 2 mpg less. On the other hand, this model can easily conquer nearly 380 miles outrunning the BMW novelty by almost two times.
