Discovery Sport from Land Rover in Development

Press conference at the New York Auto Show revealed the plans of Land Rover to create a new Discovery Sports model for the next year. Stemming from the concept called Discovery Vision, the vehicle will make use of a lot of its elements.

Design boss of the British company seemed very enthusiastic about the extension of Land Rover family and informed that Discovery Sport would hit the dealerships the same year as presented.

It also became known that Discovery would start a separate line-up. For the time being it was only revealed that the new model would be distinguished by a smaller size than its concept prototype which had been presented with seven seats. The question of whether the compact SUV will substitute for LR2 is still open.

In its time Discovery Vision surprised everybody with its remote piloting feature. Engineers made it possible for a driver to control the car via a system consisting of a camera installed at the bonnet under a certain angle and a smart-phone application. It is unlikely for such an unusual solution to be included in the production model layout. On the other hand, exquisite outlook combined with up-to-date lamps should make up for it.
