Electric Flagship: The All-New Range Rover Electric Debuts

Range Rover has officially unveiled the fully electric version of its flagship SUV, marking the first battery-powered model in the nameplate's 56-year history. Order books are now open, with prices starting at $138,000 in the US market. The luxury EV is produced alongside gas-powered and hybrid variants at the Solihull assembly plant in the UK, where JLR retrained 9,000 workers for electrification alongside 1,500 additional employees across England's West Midlands.

Powering the Range Rover Electric is a dual-motor setup featuring permanent-magnet motors on each axle. Together, they generate 542 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque—the highest torque output of any factory Range Rover to date. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and covers the 50 to 75 mph sprint in 2.7 seconds, delivering performance comparable to a traditional V8 without emissions.

Energy is stored in a double-stacked 118.5-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery composed of 344 prismatic cells, operating on an 800-volt architecture with split-charging capability. Battery packs and electric drive units are produced at JLR’s Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton. On the EPA test cycle, the SUV achieves an estimated range of up to 333 miles. When connected to a 350-kW DC fast charger, it can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 22 minutes, recouping up to 125 miles of range in just 10 minutes. North American models feature native NACS compatibility for Tesla Superchargers, and an optional home charging unit is available.

Off-road capability remains central to the vehicle's engineering. A new Integrated Traction Management system adjusts motor speed in as little as 50 milliseconds—roughly 100 times faster than conventional combustion setups. The Intelligent Driveline Dynamics system can route up to 100 percent of available rear torque as needed, while a Single Pedal mode allows drivers to navigate 33-degree climbs and 45-degree descents using only the throttle. The EV retains a 35-inch water wading capacity.

Buyers can select between standard- and long-wheelbase configurations across SE, Autobiography, SV, SV Black, and SV Ultra trims. A First Edition is available in Belgravia Green, Santorini Black, or Varesine Blue exterior finishes paired with Light Cloud Ultrafabrics and Kvadrat interior appointments. The battery pack and electric drive motors are backed by an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty.
