Renault Alpine Mule Spotted Testing

Renault and Caterham have united forces to resurrect the fabulous Alpine and our photographers managed to get some pictures of an early test mule for the vehicle.

The vehicle seen in the pictures is a chassis test mule, covered under the sheet metal of a Lotus. Size wise, the Alpine looks to be the same length as the Lotus, though it will probably be slightly bigger.

There will be 2 different sports vehicles that will result from the cooperation, one for Renault and one for Caterham. The vehicle is targeting at providing a lightweight, nimble package, much like the Mazda MX-5. Rumor has it that the vehicle will provide about 250 hp, and cost less than $80,500 (£50,000).

Renault has already constructed a concept version of the vehicle, though the concept received its power from a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6 with 400-hp and 311 lb-ft of torque.
