Production Renault Niagara Pickup Launches in Argentina With 156-HP 1.3L Turbo Engine
Renault is officially launching a new pickup truck called the Niagara on the market. Argentina is the first market for the new model and is also where its series production has been set up. The vehicle's journey from show car to the assembly line took about three years: the conceptual prototype was unveiled back in 2022, the debut of the production version took place in September 2026, and now the truck is fully ready for its market launch. Soon the pickup will arrive at dealerships in Brazil, and then the sales geography will expand to include Colombia and other South American countries.
The unibody pickup is underpinned by a variant of the RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform) modular architecture. This platform links the new model with the compact Kardian cross-hatchback, as well as the Boreal crossover, which is produced in Brazil specifically for the South American region. On the outside, the production vehicle has retained the characteristic features of the original concept: it received a radiator grille with rectangular cells and a large chrome brand inscription in a "pixel" style instead of the usual logo. The headlights also echo the prototype, although similarly designed lamps were previously adopted by the production Boreal crossover.
The Renault Niagara is offered exclusively with a four-door double cab. Depending on the chosen modification, the body length is 4,912 or 4,942 mm, the width is 1,833 mm, and the height varies from 1,707 to 1,710 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,956 mm. The ground clearance is stated to range from 224 to 233 mm. The pickup is powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 156 hp and 270 Nm of torque. In the base trim, buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and an automated manual transmission, whereas all other trim levels are equipped exclusively with the automated gearbox. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available.
